These green tiger eyes were embroidered by Sarita Thapa in Bardiya, Central Nepal, in honor of tigers that live in a nearby National Park. Sarita then made the tote bag and added her design and the green stripes before adding her woven signature bottom right.

Meet the Artist

Sarita is the inspiration behind the Bardiya cooperative. She was 11 when her father was denounced as a Maoist and taken by police, never to reappear. She is a strong believer in embroidery as a way to empower women and has led numerous projects.
