The Maghi is the most important festival in the lives of the Tharu indigenous people, who live in Central Nepal, and features special food, dancing, clothes and music. This couple is enjoying the traditional maghi dance. The man is playing a madal musical instrument which is covered by a decorative cloth, or Tangi.

Meet the Artist

Neeta was a baby when her brother disappeared. She was introduced to embroidery by her sister Geeta, another talented artist, and trained in tailoring by Alina, a founding member of the embroidery group. Neeta loves to tell embroidered stories!
