The Tihar takes place after the Dashain festival in November and celebrates the bond between siblings. The sister places a tika blessing on the forehead of her brother before they exchange gifts. The new clothes are gifts from their parents for the festival.

Meet the Artist

Kushma was seven when her father disappeared during the conflict in Nepal. She used embroidery to remember his loss for the Bardiya Memorial Quilts and has made tiger bags. Kushma is well known as a fiber artist and embroidery trainer.
