The blue tiger eyes were embroidered by Sarita Thapa in Bardiya, Central Nepal, in honor of tigers that live in a nearby National Park. Sarita then made the tote bag and added her tiger and the blue stripes. Sarita placed her woven signature bottom right.

Meet the Artist

Sarita was eleven when her father disappeared in Nepal and described her loss for the Bardiya Memorial Quilts. Sarita launched the Bardiya cooperative and led the early training. She is a firm believer in embroidery as a tool for empowering women.
