Rehema Owiti lives in Nairobi and works at a bakery. She is a single mother with three children, one of whom has albinism. Rehema was one of twenty members of the Albinism Society of Kenya (ASK) who received embroidery training in the summer of 2021 to make stories for the Kenyan Albinism Quilts. Her story showed a father and mother bribing a policeman to keep their child with albinism safe. Esther is associated with Shield of Faith, the women’s association in Kibera that formed to organize embroidery training and now tackles social problems. She says that what she likes best about stitching is meeting with other mothers.
