Elizabeth lives in the informal settlement of Kangemi, Kenya and came to embroidery through the Kenyan COVID Quilts project. Elizabeth’s block describes how the pandemic closed schools, forcing young boys to resort to drugs and other unfortunate pastimes. Elizabeth has fallen in love with embroidery and achieved a high level of skill. She is also active in the Kangemi Advocacy and Self Help Group, which formed in 2020 to organize embroidery training and launched a highly successful vaccination campaign in the settlement.
