Kushma, Geeta, Kanchan and Binita, seen in the photo, all lost close family members during the conflict that ravaged Nepal between 1996 and 2006 and have turned to embroidery as a form of therapy and source of income. The four artists are close friends and live near the town of Burigaun in Bardiya District. They are also active in the Bardiya chapter of NEFAD (the Nepal Network of Families of the Disappeared). Kanchan, Geeta and Kushma have made other embroidered products for this store, including tiger bags. In 2025 they teamed up with Binita to create an association Bardiya Craft. Together they then used their stitching skills to depict seven festivals that are revered and enjoyed by Tharu people in the center of Nepal. The festivals are the Teej, Krishna Ashstami, Loshar Parba, Maghi, Atwari, Tihar and Dashain. The eighth towel
carries a compilation of images from the seven festivals. The artists work as a team and ask that their sparkling stories are seen as a joint product of Bardiya Craft.
