Agnes lives with her husband and three children in the informal settlement of Kibera, Nairobi where she works as a hair dresser. Agnes turned to embroidery in 2020 when she made a block for the Kenyan COVID Quilts describing how the pandemic had resulted in a ban on imports which had pushed up prices in Kenya. Agnes followed this up in 2021 with a pink flamingo for the Sister Artists 2 challenge, which was quilted by Susan Louis in New York and auctioned. Agnes is an active member of Shield of Faith, the women’s association which was formed to facilitate embroidery training and now takes on broader social challenges in Kibera.
